2008 Study Topic #10 - An Analysis of the Prosperous Person – Part 2

The Science of Living Study Lesson

Chapter 10
THE THRILL OF IT ALL

My word that goes forth out of my mouth shall not return unto me void, bit it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 141:3

And the Lord answered me, and said, “Write the vision, and make it plain"…Habakkuk 2:2

A SCIENCE OF LIVING PRINCIPLE

When you speak in faith, when you speak in love, when you speak in the spirit, the words you speak become the word of God that goes forth out of your mouth to accomplish that which you have spoken.

Quote: “Your mind power will do for you anything that you make clear.“— Rev. Ike

Quote: “What I cannot be sure of, I cannot truly want”—Sir Isaiah Berlin

Quote: “The more you become aware of the power of your mind, the power of your word, the more you will demonstrate it” — Rev. Ike

Now we invite you to go to the Study Guide and read the rest of the chapter and complete the questions.

This journey of self-discovery consists of building blocks. Each month we give you a new technique to add to the previous months’ building blocks. You will get out of the exercises and lessons according to what you invest in working with this material.  We encourage you to continue working with the earlier techniques as you add each new one.

Do not forget to access the monthly teachings of Dr. Tony Mitchell so that you may incorporate the Mind Science technology he offers to assist you in working through these lessons. Rev. Ike highly recommends Dr. Mitchell’s techniques.

As always, we are pleased and eager to hear from you about what you are discovering about you by asking yourself these questions and by answering the Science of Living Study Guide topic questions. Please give us time to respond to you; we do answer your questions but it may take a minute.

Our next stop along our Self-Discovery journey with Rev. Ike is his teaching, “The Thrill of It All …,” found in Chapter 10 of his Science of Living Study Guide.

In addition to working with Chapter 10 of Rev. Ike’s Science of Living Study Guide we would like to offer you a second message from Rev. Ike entitled, An Analysis of the Prosperous Person, Part 2. Rev. Ike developed and first taught this lesson in May of 1982.

Now, here is the November message from Rev. Ike.

An Analysis of the Prosperous Person – Part 2

Let’s pick up where we left off last month.
I am and there is none beside me. “I am is thought; “I am is awareness. Each person lives in his own personal world.  The world at large is made up of a combination of everybody’s world, on the mass level. There is nothing in your personal world but what you put there.  If you don’t like what is there you have the power to be you transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12: 2). If you have put failure in your world and you don’t like failure, repent and be baptized!  Change your mind (Metanoia-- from the Greek μετάνοια, metanoia, changing one's mind, repentance). Turn your mind around, turn your mouth around, and you will turn your world around.

Affirmation #4

I am everyone; I am everything. “I am god and there is none beside me.” There is nothing in my world but the output of my inner thinking.

Now do you know what your world is? Your world is the outside of your inside thought. You are the only actor in your world. Notice the use of I am: it is awareness; it is thinking. There is no other actor in your world, in my world but I am, your thoughts, my thoughts. You’re going to have to take responsibility for your failure or your success. In the one God, which is thought, every man is god of his own experience.  So out there—outside of your mind—is not the source of your good. There is no source outside of your mind. There’s only one source and  that’s your inner thought of I am.  That’s the only source of anything.  What you add to I am, you become.  That’s the only source.

So now before moving on to my second cause of prosperity, let’s quickly review.

Cause of Prosperity #1:

The first thing about this blessed, prosperous person is that this blessed, prosperous person does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly.  He will not follow the advice of the world mind, which tells him, “You can’t.” He only listens to the voice of the indwelling God, which assures him that he can be what he wants to be, do what he wants to do and have what he wants to have no matter what’s going on around him.  The God-in-you always makes a way!

Cause of Prosperity #2:

Now, secondly, the blessed, prosperous person does not stand in the way of sinners.  To sin means to miss the mark. In the New Testament, the word sin is from the Greek word “Hamatia—(ἁμαρτία) which means to miss the mark.  Some of the background of the word sin also is that it comes from an archaic definition of an archery terminology.  Whenever an archer shots an arrow from his bow and the arrow misses its mark the archer is said to have sinned.

Achieving Success, Prosperity and creating Money is really your right, your divine right. The blessed, prosperous man does not stand in the way of sinners. That is, he does not think erroneously, he does not think the wrong way and get wrong results and that’s an amazing thing about this person.  People think erroneous thoughts and get erroneous results and then wonder why the devil is on their track.  The only devil that is on your track is your negative thinking.  “Be you transformed by the renewing of your mind.” That’s the only law of change.  It is amazing how wise, educated people, the sociologists and the politicians and even the religious people and so many well-meaning people get together trying to change things in the world without trying to get people to change their thoughts.  You’re not going to change anything until you change thought.  I love the song that says, “Let there be peace on earth- AND LET IT BEGIN WITH ME.”  Any time you see an outer war, it comes from an inner war and there’ll be no peace on earth until there is peace in the hearts of men. In the meantime, the peace in the world must begin with peace in my own mind, in your mind.

We have to get rid of our irritations, aggravations and un-forgiveness.

“No Rev. Ike, I don’t want to do that. I just want to stop the war over there in the Middle East.” That’s another thing about people: They always want to stop the war everywhere else- they always want to straighten out other people! It’s always the other people. Let there be peace on earth but let it begin with me. The only real thing that I can contribute to the peace or the prosperity of the world or the good of the world is my own right consciousness.  The prosperous, blessed man does not stand in the way of sinners. The blessed, prosperous person thinks right, does right and gets right results.   Whatever you do will prosper for as a man [a mind] thinks, so is he.

Cause of Prosperity #3

Now the third characteristic of the blessed, prosperous man in the first Psalm is that he does not sit in the seat of the scornful. He does not belittle or deny the God, or the good in himself and others.  There are some you who have been so hard on yourself: you belittling yourself, you scorn yourself, and you doubt your own abilities. You have denied the God, the good, the greater possibilities within yourself and others, even when it does not yet appear.   Let’s reverse this process now. The Bible says that if you confess and forsake your sins, you shall have mercy. Have you had the habit of belittling yourself in terms of who you are, in terms of what you can be, and do and have?  I’ve got news for you: You cannot belittle yourself without belittling God. This is not an ego trip. Some people hear me talking and think, “Well, Rev. Ike’s teaching these people to go on an ego trip.”  No. As I have been telling you repeatedly, you are a manifold person. You are both flesh and spirit. You are both human and divine. You are twins and not only that, you’re also every number –three through a number that no man can number. What I’m really doing is telling you about yourself. You cannot scorn yourself without scorning God. You cannot belittle yourself without belittling God. When you came into this world, God came into this world in a unique way by means of you. When God gave you a mind, with that God gave you the potential to be whatever you want to be, to do, and to have and gave you Divine power so that you can take that power and send yourself to hell with it, if you want to! Stop scorning yourself.

Let’s do a treatment of penance right now. I hear people putting themselves down and they think it’s a joke but it isn’t—it is serious. When you put yourself down—jokingly or otherwise—the world follows your lead and it will put you down too!

Treatment – read this aloud to you

Right here and right now I repent of any and every self-depreciation. I honor the God-in-me. I honor the good in me. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Never again will I put myself down. Everyday I open a new “I can.” Thank you, God-in-me.

Cause of Prosperity #4

The fourth characteristic of the blessed, prosperous man is this prosperous person delights in and highly values the Law of the Lord. Because he serves the Lord, the Lord serves him and he is excited about the goodness of God.  Notice this characteristic of the successful, prosperous person. His delight is in the Law of the Lord. The first Psalm says, “…and in his Lord does he meditate day and night.” Get excited about the goodness of God. Get excited about the good you desire to be, to do and to have.  Your whole excitement will bless you with the good you desire and make you prosperous.

Some people go through life saying, “Well, nothing good ever happens to me.” “I wish I could be something. I wish I could do something, but nothing ever happens to me.” “I don’t know why. I have to cry sometimes. I’ll understand it better by and by.” What is that person’s problem? This person demonstrates a lack of excitement, a lack of enthusiasm. If you want to be something, do something and have something, get excited about it.

Affirmation #5

Read this aloud:

I know what I want to be. I know what I want to do. I know what I want to have. I have a vision. I have goals. I have purpose. I am excited about them. I am excited about life. I am excited about living. I’m excited about prospering. I am excited about love. I am excited about success. I am excited about money. Excitement is magnetic. Excitement draws to me whatever I am excited about.

If you are full of excitement, people will come to you just out of curiosity. If you want to be healthy, if you want to stay healthy, then get excited about your good health. As you go out in life, act like you’re glad to be here. If you’re going for a job interview, get excited and go and act like you’re glad to be there.  I’ve had people go looking for a job and before they got there the job was filled, but there was something about them, so they got hired anyway. The boss just said, Well, that job has already been filled but I like you- there’s something about you- I don’t know what it is but I like you so I’m going to hire you anyway.”  Delight yourself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4).

Now you know what has been going wrong with you. You have not been excited enough. Now I dare you to go forth into life acting like you’ve got a tiger in your tank.  Life meets me just as I meet life.  And if for some reason you don’t feel quite so good today, don’t go around sharing it because you’ll make other folks feel not so good, too. Tell your feelings how to feel.

Cause of Prosperity #5

And the fifth characteristic of the blessed, prosperous man is that he meditates on the Law of the Lord day and night in his mind. He thinks, feels and studies good thoughts systematically for he understands the Law of the Lord is, “As a man thinks, so is he.”  What you think is what you get. Stop thinking all those “sometimes up” and “sometimes down” thoughts. Use Thinkonomics to engineer your thoughts, to engineer your moods and to engineer your feelings. The successful, prosperous person is, as Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’s book title says, “A Tough-Minded Optimist.” You have to be tough to live. Living is not for weaklings.

“Oh, somebody hurt my feelings.” How many of you are willing to confess that you really had delicate feelings?  If so, take a deep breath your toughest voice say aloud, “I’m tough! I’m a tough-minded optimist.”  An optimist, regardless of how things look is so tough-minded that he will always see the glass as half-full, not half-empty.

Affirmation #5

Affirm this to yourself aloud:

I am tough enough to handle life. I am tough enough to handle my problems, because I have God’s help. I am tough enough to receive my healing. I am tough enough to be healthy. I am tough enough to be happy. I am tough enough to love and to receive love. I am tough enough to have some money. I am tough enough to be what I want to be. I am tough enough to do the good I want to do. I am tough enough to have the good that I want to have. I am tough enough!

Affirmations for November 2008

Use the Power of your spoken word to say these Affirmations for yourself at least twice every day throughout this month of November:

I deeply believe that achieving Success, Prosperity and creating Money is my divine right.

I am clear about my goals; I know what I want and I get it through my enthusiasm, my persistence, and my belief in God’s Law.

I am not hung up on how the good I desire will come about because the God-in-me know what to do, how to do it, and does it easily and effortlessly through me.

I release all my irritations and aggravations and I love and forgive myself for every mistake.

I make decisions easily because I know what I want.

I am not afraid to make a mistake because I know it is merely a learning situation.

I quickly substitute every negative thought and action with the good desire I expect.

I make up my mind to be successful; I make up my mind to be prosperous.

I honor the God-in-me. I honor the Good in me.

I honor the God in others. I honor the Good in others.

I am convinced that the God-in-me fulfills my needs by giving an idea to solve problems that allow people to gladly pay me for my solution.

I am a blessing to myself and to others.

Now go forth into November knowing and believing that you do not have to accept the negative thoughts of lack presented by the world mind. Using the clear thought of what you want, you are creating all the good you desire to come into your experience easily and effortlessly!

At this time, I would like to ask you to prepare a love offering to this Ministry if this teaching has blessed you. I want you to use your Decision-Power and the Power of your spoken words to say these Affirmations aloud:

I gladly bring my tithes and offerings into God’s storehouse that God may reveal
His mysteries to me and bury them in my heart.

I expect the LORD to give me an idea that will solve a problem for others and they will pay me for my solution.

Luke 6:38 (AMP)
8Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you.
